Pairs: ___ and ___

(aired 11/20/09)

andAll the songs played on today’s show have titles with two concepts separated by the word “and.” This and that. They’re all duos, pairing interesting combos of words.

Thanks to everyone for the song suggestions. I didn’t have time to play them ALL, but I still appreciated the brainstorm, since it really helped me discover some new artists and songs.

Happy birthday to my biggest fan: Lynn Gates! I created the last medley for her using GarageBand; she’d suggested the song, “Night and Day,” yet I had too many good versions from which to choose. So I added 5 versions together into a combined flow. (And you can definitely disregard the meaning of the song’s lyrics in the context of this dedication, since it’s not quite relevant for a mother/daughter relationship.) It’s fun to compile and edit music.

I’m asking for feedback about my show. Don’t worry about hurting my ego — I wanna know the truth! Email me at maya@kskq.org. Or if you’re my facebook friend, you can submit your feedback anonymously in the “Honesty Box” in the left column of my profile page. Please let me know if you hear things that need improvement or have ideas about details that could change. Or even if you want to point out what you like about Maya’s Mix.
