Pi Pie

Pi Day is an annual celebration commemorating the mathematical constant Ï€ (pi), which is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. Pi Day is officially observed on March 14 (or 3/14 in the American month/day date format), since 3, 1 and 4 are the three most significant digits of Ï€ in the decimal form. (Its first set of digits is 3.141592653, and as an irrational number it goes on forever.)

To observe Pi Day, a number of the songs are about this special number, while the majority of the tunes are about the edible dessert – pie – a word with identical pronunciation. There are a few other creative twists of this word as well.

I learned about his unique holiday from Steve Weyer, in all his savvy creativity. He thought of this theme for Maya’s Mix, offering me a fun list of eligible songs. Even though his name isn’t accredited to specific songs in the list below, trust that the majority are his suggestions. Thank you, Steve! Check out my past shows of Crosswords and Streets to see/hear Steve’s other fun theme ideas.
