Streets (#2)

Part 2: General References

(aired 8/31/12)

I started this theme last week with Part 1, featuring songs that had specific street names in the titles. This show is Part 2, with a looser requirement of songs that simply mention some form of street in the title. Looking at the playlist, almost all titles use “road” or “street,” with a few “highways.”

It has been a lot of fun dancing through the streets with you during the last two weeks. Thank you for all the song suggestions! Enjoy…

Streets (#1)

Part 1: Specific Names

(aired 8/24/12)

Route 66

My friend Steve Weyer recently sent me a link to an art project in which a road map was created out 390 song titles — everything from Highway to Hell to Penny Lane. It inspired me to choose the “street” theme for Maya’s Mix. I posted the query on my Facebook group page to brainstorm potential songs, and ended up with the wonderful surprise of tons of suggestions from you listeners – 84 songs total!

Since I had so many choices, I’ve divided this theme into 2 episodes. This first show features songs that all have specific street name(s) explicitly mentioned in the song title. Both real and fictional street names are acceptable. Next week it’ll be more general, simply including references to the words: streets, roads, lanes, etc.

Thank you everyone for all the song ideas! Also, I want to express my gratitude to Joey Danger for accompanying me in the studio as my co-producer for this show.

Stay tuned for the Part 2 show, soon to be posted here on this blog…
