On the Brain Labor Report we explore the 15 NOW Campaign. We are joined in the studio by Kristi Wright, organizer with the Southern Oregon chapter of 15 NOW Oregon, a broad coalition working to increase the minimum wage. We also talk with Justin Norton-Kertson organizer with Portland 15 NOW. We discuss the efforts to get 15 NOW legislation in Salem. upcoming rally at the capitol on Jan 24 and local actions.
We discuss the University of Oregon's Oregon Workforce Report 2014: The High Cost of Low Wages in Oregon, The report shows that Oregon taxpayers pay $1.7 billion dollars per year to subsidize the low wages of companies that refuse to pay their workers a living wage.
We also talk with Nancy Price from Alliance for Democracy about Trans-pacific Partnership. The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is a massive trade and investment pact described as "NAFTA on Steroids". It is "Crunch Time" for opposition to this legislation. TPP opponents will be reaching out to Senator Ron Wyden at upcoming town halls. We discuss the latest development and new provisions in the TPP.
